THE BOOK

Six chapters, each representing a specific phase in one´s life: children, teenagers, students, adults, retired and elderly people. Each group has a special relationship with food: at night students wait impatiently for their dürüm soaked with garlic sauce; adults have to deal with breakfast-meetings and computer-food; elderly people in a care home often, and for the first time in decades, are unable to decide for themselves what to eat.

We are keen on discovering the role food plays in the life of these target groups through observation, questionnaires and experiments. What if we try to influence its role? Could "eating" be livelier, handier or cooler? What can we design to suit some special need of these groups? A new surrounding, a particular recipe, a piece of furniture?

This is a research in which we tackle each subject in an artistic, culinary and scientific way. Meulenhoff publishers from Amsterdam will publish our book in the Autumn of 2011.
